So I received a threatening e-mail from the xanga people that if I don't post something they just might delete my "account."
It's been about 11 months since my last post I do believe. I put stuff on Facebook from time to time. I haven't completely stepped off the planet (;
I'm still working nights but have been promised a 12-hour shift day position---when? Soon (and that was about 2 months ago). I've accepted the fact that I'm at their mercy.
This was my 3-day weekend. Got to ride the bike paths with my younger brother (Kevin) and his friend. Thanks to my odometer/spedometer I get to report that I went just over 20 miles with a max speed of 30 miles/hour (down hill of course).
Yesterday Kevin flew to New Mexico for some sort of internship thing. Later this week Sharon's flying across the ocean to England. Kenny lives in Washington state. I live 5 miles from my parents. In august I get to go to my church's camp in Michigan to be the camp nurse (w/one other person) for a week. That should be interesting.
Don't be surprised if you don't hear from me in a while. I guess I just waiting for something interesting to happen.
Okay, Mel loves babies. I get a phone call right before heading to work "Hey Mel, you willing to work New-Life/Maternity tonight??" To which I replied "NO WAY!" Well, 30 seconds later I agreed. So I was in a completely separate part of the hospital, where everything is locked. The people who recognized me kept saying "wait, what are you doing here?" Luckily everyone was so nice and helpful and I think I did a decent job. Also my patients never found out that it's not really my 'specialty.' I was dying to tell them, but whenever they'd be like "oh, I'm sure you've seen this all the time..." I'd just smile and nod. HA! Oh, but the highlight was that I got to hold TWO brand new babies and I even got to change a diaper and swaddle one. Okay, that might not sound special to some of you, but putting a diaper on a 1-day-old is a whole lot more exciting than putting one on a 90-year-old. Well, I'm relieved and kinda proud of myself....just had to share that with the world. I overcame my fear.
On another note, the BEFUS Family Reunion starts this next week----oh yes, good times~makes you wanna have an awesome last name too, don't it?!?!? Gonna be in Emmalena, KY at Camp Nathaneal.
EVERYONE should read this book! Whether or not you've studied the human body in detail. Whether or not you read non-fiction literature. I'm reading it for the first time, but it won't be the last. :)

Currently Listening 5th Gear By Brad Paisley I'm Still a Guy (hilarious!!) see related
Hey Friends! I got back from Washington the other night. I went to visit my brother (Kenny) and sister-in-law (Elizabeth). They live in Bellevue, which is just 20 minutes from Seattle, and the home of Microsoft (yes, lots of rich nerdy people). We (Janell and I) also got to go to Spokane to see "old" friends that we grew up with in Venezuela. I put a ton of pictures on my Facebook if you want a glimpse. It was such a fun time and nice not to have to think about work. It's nice to be more than what I do for a living. That's just a minor detail that shouldn't be how we define ourselves completely. I like it when I'm motivated at work and eagerly learn new things, but I don't want to be "that" person. I'm definitely gonna travel more now. I feel refreshed and ready to go back to work tomorrow night---if only I can stay up a little longer so I'm not too exhausted my first night back. That's it for now!
No I haven't disappeared. I just get so caught up reading everyone else's xanga's that I forget that nobody has any idea what's going on with me. Ha! I work a lot. I finally got involved with a single ladies small group at church...so that's kinda cool. Right now we're studying 1 Thessalonians...but we mostly talk. Hmmm what else...I work all the time. Those of you who are in health care---does your unit call you to come in on all your days off, and to come in early or stay late on the days you work?? Cuz I seriously get a phone call from my hospital every single day. I haven't been on call for at least 3 months. Staffing issues are SERIOUS. I'm also kinda sick of work. I started working in August and haven't had more than 3 days off in a row since then. BUT not for long! I've got my tickets to go to Washington to visit my older brother and sister-in-law and some long lost friends on JUNE 21st with my roomie Janell!!! YIPEE!! I'll be there for a week. It'll be so refreshing. Then in August I get to go to a Befus Family Reunion in Kentucky (and there'll be babies and new cousins I've never seen before!). Summer is the best. Plus I'm getting tan little by little and I'm finally growing accustomed to sleeping during the day--it sure has taken long enough!
Isn't xanga cool! You can feel like you're keeping in touch with all your long lost friends....but I'd much rather have you guys close by--at least within driving distance.
